Objectives

The project investigates the relation between the prosody and the semantics of focus in various languages. Besides the analysis of the meaning of pitch accents, the project focuses also on other prosodic means that allow differentiation between focused and non-focused constituents. Furthermore, relations are investigated between seemingly different empiric domains for which a common theoretic explanation seems to be natural.
