The study of intercultural communication from a linguistic perspective:

methodological reflections

Excellent access to the data of interpersonal communication facilitates the conversational analysis and - as I would like to point out - its completion by other methods.

My aim is to show that more extensive results and a better quality of description can be reached by not submitting to methodical dogmas, but combining different approaches. That is to be illustrated by an example of authentic intercultural communication. My investigation has therefore, four steps, each one with a different focus:

1. the analysis of conversation of ethno-methodological provenience

2. interactional sociolinguistics

3. serial analysis

4. feed back from the members of the language community.
