This file contains a reading guide for the literature to be read for the Oberseminar Computerlinguistik -- Session IMSLEX and CELEX on 10th of June (Frank Henrik Müller). I suggest people read Chapter 1 and 3 of Judith Eckle-Kohler's `Linguistisches Wissen zur automatischen Lexikon-Akquisition aus deutschen Textcorpora', which I have put into the Seminar-Ordner. Although it's mainly about the automatic acquisition of lexica and not about their structure, it's very instructive as regards the architecture of lexica as well. If you do not feel comfortable with reading German, you may want to have a look at Gavin Burnage's `Celex User Guide', which I have also put into the Seminar-Ordner. Unfortunately, it really _is_ just a user guide, so you might feel you miss a bit of scientific/theoreticial background. In compensation, you may find the EAGLES `Recommendations on Subcategorisation' quite helpful. They can be found at: http://www.ilc.pi.cnr.it/EAGLES96/synlex/synlex.html If you have read the two chapters in Eckle-Kohler, EAGLES would be supplementary reading. I further suggest that everyone read: Bröker, Norbert and Dipper, Stefanie (1999) Zur Konstruktion von Lexika für die maschinelle syntaktische Analyse. In Jost Gippert and Peter Olivier, editors, Multilinguale Corpora - Codierung, Strukturierung, Analyse. 11.Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft fuer Linguistische DatenVerarbeitung pp. 159-168 Enigma corporation, Prag. Lezius, Wolfgang; Dipper, Stefanie and Fitschen, Arne (2000) IMSLex -- Representing Morphological and Syntactical Information in a Relational Database. In Ulrich Heid; Stefan Evert; Egbert Lehmann and Christian Rohrer, editors, Proceedings of the 9th EURALEX International Congress, Stuttgart, Germany pp. 133-139. They are both quite similar but the former puts more emphasis on the construction of lexica and the latter on their application. Thus, if in a hurry, you may want to drop the former (as construction is already covered by the other titles).
