Thank you for wanting to participate at the experiment. The number of participants specified by the experimenter has been reached, however. The experiment is now finished.
Thank you for choosing to support our research by participating in our experiment! In doing so, you are making an important contribution to foundational linguistic research conducted at Karlstad University, the Leibniz-Centre General Linguistics and Bielefeld University. On this page we would like to inform you about the study.
In this study, we investigate how we understand and capture events in which a person sets an object in motion. Your task as a native speaker of English is to describe short video clips that we present to you in digital form.
After the next page, where we ask you to provide some general information about yourself, two exercises will explain in more detail what the task is. This is followed by the actual experiment, which includes a total of 52 runs. We estimate that you will need about 20 minutes to complete the experiment. After the last run of the experiment, a website with a link will appear that will take you back to Prolific and allow you to claim your participation reward of £3.20.
Your participation is voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time, without comment and without incurring any disadvantages for yourself.
Your data will be safely stored, and we will ensure that no unauthorised persons will have access to them. If you interrupt and withdraw from the session before completion, no data will be saved. After completion of the experiment, however, your data cannot be deleted any more because they are stored anonymously.
The data will only be published in a form that does not allow conclusions to be drawn about individuals. Thereby, the research is conducted in line with the ethical recommendations of the Swedish Research Council and the German Research Foundation.
If you have any questions, please contact Professor Andrea Schalley at Karlstad University.
By clicking on the button "I want to participate!" below, you confirm that you have been sufficiently informed and that you participate voluntarily.
The experiment was created by Torgrim Solstad (U Bielefeld) using the free software OnExp v.1.2 .
